Move 37

Move 37

In a battle between a grandmaster of the oldest known board game, Go, and a well-oiled AI bot, the computer won four out of five times.  There was a famous “Move 37” in game two where the AI made a move that almost seemed like a mistake — it was surely out of place in any prior game of Go for millennia.  The grandmaster was stunned, had to walk out of the room for 15 minutes, only to come back flustered with the realization that indeed, the computer had won because of the out of character Move 37.

We have to be willing to let go of our preconceived notions.  Even with experience, we can lose sight of the joy of what we once had.

Staring at the same beautiful ocean for years and years can ultimately make what was once awe-inspiring to the senses, become just par for the course on a normal day.

There’s wisdom, there’s tradition, there’s experience, and they all have merit — and I would say they almost always do.  But, we have to be willing to go just on the outer perimeter of what’s possible and what conventional wisdom might tell us, otherwise, we will never expand the boundaries of possibilities.

Create knowing that you don’t know.

Be inspired to make Move 37.
