Kids

We’re all kids — it just depends on your perspective and how you define “kid”.

“Yes, sir” or “Yes, ma’am” depends not only on how your parents raised you, but also on who you’re calling sir or ma’am.

We all need parental figures in our communities — “it takes a village” should not only be reserved for the raising of the young, but also for the refining of the more mature.

With a little love and support from elders in our lives who have wisdom and experience in ways we don’t have just yet, we might benefit from the the eyes, ears, and perspective of others so we can see the forest through the trees — to me, this is one of the beautiful aspects of living in community.

So no matter where you find yourself and what season you’re in, remember, you’re a kid to some and an elder to others — play both roles well for the benefit of yourself and those in your community.
