Cultures have built temples or cathedrals for centuries. Often times, the architecture of a culture says a lot about the culture — their values, their priorities, and their skills.
As we look at ways we can design our own life, we should consider prioritizing the resource where we’re all playing with the same amount each day — time.
Our Creator designed time so that we work six days and rest one day. Unfortunately, we’re messing this one up pretty bad. I mean, we like to think of ourselves as a hard-working bunch that gets shit done, but in reality, we often over-extend ourselves focusing on nothing and wearing ourselves out — basically, running ourselves into the ground and being far less productive than we’re designed to be. We’re falling short of optimally using our spiritual gifts.
We should start to think of Sabbath as an architecture of time. We can design our life around our Sabbath, not our Sabbath around our life. Start with intentionally planning 24 hours of your week to recover, rest, rejuvenate, and receive from the Source of Life. After all, we have everything through Our Creator — don’t we owe it back? That’s how relationships work and improve and grow.
Design your life around your rest, namely, Your Sabbath Day. There is peace that flows like a river and a well of understanding just waiting for us — but we have to stop long enough and intentionally to receive it.
Bless y’all and love y’all — enjoy your rest.
